Turkish Hazel Bowl with a Red Collar (20×9 cm)

Description

A signature wooden bowl of Turkish hazel – a wood that carries the memory of time and of life beneath the bark. The traces of wood-boring larvae have become an aesthetic element that gives the piece a raw expression and visual depth.

The shape of the bowl recalls a tilted letter S – the lower part flows into a subtle foot, and the whole feels dynamic yet graceful. The outside is treated with flame and ebonizing: dark tones of black, brown and metallic grey blend like shadows in motion. In some of the larva holes red details glow, culminating at the upper rim – accented by an extravagant glossy red “collar” that gives the piece a strong personality.

The inner surface stays close to nature – the grain is accented with pigments but leaves enough room for the authenticity of the hazel itself. Some of the larva tunnels go right through the wall, giving the bowl a perforated lightness and a story.

Finished with a blend of natural oils Ludvie’s Oil for a silky surface and durability.
