Spalted Walnut Bowl “Dragon Scales” (23×9 cm)

Description

A signature bowl of spalted walnut that combines natural grain with a bold artistic finish.

The bowl measures 23 × 9 cm and its shape elegantly narrows toward the upper rim, so it feels solid, closed and compact.

The outer surface is covered with a yellow-green layer with fine crackle that creates the impression of dragon skin or lizard scales. The cracks in shades of yellow and green look like a living organic surface that changes character with the light.

The upper rim is accented with gold pigment and a thin red line, giving the bowl an almost jewel-like, nearly heraldic look.

The inside was left in the natural state of spalted walnut. The surface is treated with a blend of natural waxes, oils and pigments, so the grain with its dark contrasting lines comes to the fore and creates a fascinating play of structures.

This piece is literally a fusion of nature and fantasy – a bowl that looks like an artifact from a dragon’s lair, yet remains a functional object of everyday beauty.
